for Multi-storied (6+ storied) Buildin
Regulation
of Buildings Rules
As per chapter V of the Dhaka City Corporation
Ordinance, 1983 Dhaka City Corporation is responsible
for providing Building Permission. In the ordinance
it is mentioned as follows:-

CHAPTER VI
BUILDING CONTROL
111. Regulation of buildings. - (1) If
any building, or anything fixed thereon, be
deemed by the Corporation to be in a ruinous
state or likely to fall or in any way dangerous
to any inhabitant of such building or of any
neighboring building or to any occupier thereof
or to passers-by, the Corporation may by notice
require the owner or occupier of such building
to take such actin in regard to the building
as may be specified in the notice, and if there
is default, the Corporation may take the necessary
steps itself and the cost incurred thereon by
the Corporation shall be deemed to be tax levied
on the owner or occupier of the building under
this Ordinance.
(2) If a building is in a dangerous condition,
or otherwise unfit for human habitation, the
Corporation may prohibit the occupation of such
building till it has been suitably repaired
to the satisfaction of the Corporation.
However, the Government has recently decided
that any structure having 6 floor and above
should get permitted by the Dhaka City Corporation
along with RAJUK, DOE, DWASA, Civil Aviation,
Titas Gas Transmission & Distribution, DCC
ward Commissioners, Fire Service.
How to apply?
1. Applicants should apply in a prescribed Application
Form available at Urban Planning Department,
9th Floor, Nagar Bhaban, Dhaka City Corporation,
at a cost of 50/- Taka which have to be paid
through Challan Form, Sonali Bank, Nagar Bhaban
Corporate Branch. Same form is also available
at this site for Download. In case, downloaded
form is used - the application form must accompany
Payment Challan (receipt) of Taka 50/- paid
at the Sonali Bank, Nagar Bhaban Branch during
the time of submission of the application. Otherwise,
the Application will not be received.
2.
Application must accompany following documents:
- Up-to-date
Holding Tax Payment Certificate.
- Lay
out Plan of the proposed building.
- Parking
Plan with number of cars.
- Location
and Cross Section of Internal Dustbin in the
Ground Floor with of proposed Building Plan
and location of DCC's nearest Dustbin / Container
with distance from the site.
- An
undertaking latter from the legal owner of
the proposed building regarding safe places
for storing building construction materials.
Approval Procedure
On receipt of the completed application form along
with necessary documents concerned officials of
Urban Planning Department inspects the proposed
site and prepares an inspection report which is
submitted to the Chief Town Planner with comments.
If the proposed site is in accordance with the
DCC's set guidelines, DCC usually gives permission
within 3 working days from the date of receipt
of application.
