City Center : Multistoried Car Parking

Due to lack of car parking facilities in the buildings of the Central Business District of Bangladesh, Motijheel-Dilkusha areas, the vehicles are being parked on the road. Steps have been taken to build a multistoried car parking at the center of Dilkusha in order to remove congestion and provide car-parking facilities. 'City Center, 'if built, will be able to host 500 cars at a time and 1500 cars daily. As a result existing road can be utilized properly for transportation. Economic and commercial activities will be developed and people will regain their working hours, eventually boosting up the commercial activities of Dhaka. The foundation of the country's first multi-storied car-parking cum commercial building has been laid completely without the Government or DCC's financial involvement. With 3 under ground floors this 37 storied building will be the country's highest and international standard structure of spectacular beauty containing modern facilities viz. restaurant, international standard conference facilities, Heli-pad which may be very useful for emergency period use. Nine floors will be solely used for car-parking. The proposed building is being planned to be finalized in two and a half years. The foundation has been laid on January 19, 2004 by the Honorable Prime Minister.
